More About our Business

What is important to us:

  • We provide uncompromising expertise for mission-critical challenges.

Whether we are helping you prepare for the future or respond to a crisis, we aim to exceed your expectations. We pride ourselves on our responsiveness and professionalism, often in very challenging circumstances. While we cannot promise the particular result of an investigation, we do promise to follow the evidence wherever it leads and to do so with integrity.

  • Bias-free Service

All humans have biases. We are aware of the impact of bias in security-related fields, and we aim to continually work to ensure that they stay out of our work.

  • Social Justice

Security consultant and private investigator Jonathan Lacey has been passionate about addressing inequities in society for three decades. He continues this through efforts to avoid perpetuating biases in training, investigation, and consulting, as well as though his volunteer work, which includes service as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Neighborhood Legal Services, Inc., of Buffalo, NY, and as a volunteer mentor with Compeer Buffalo.

  • Wraparound Service Model

Our partnership with Louize Yafai, an accredited Emotional Recovery & Resilience specialist based in London, UK, with specialized training in domestic abuse and intimate partner violence (IPV), working globally and in partnership with STS Risk Management, reflects our belief that people are at the heart of what we do. We help people during high-stress situations, crisis events and major transitions.

You can learn more about this partnership in the Updates, Experience, and Media & News sections of our website.

Updates:

Here’s what’s new at STS:

  • New Partnership Offers Emotional Recovery and Resilience Services

We’re pleased to announce that we are now partnering with Louize Yafai, an accredited Emotional Recovery and Resilience specialist working globally and in partnership with STS Risk Management, who supports individuals during high-stress situations, crisis events and major transitions.

As part of this partnership, clients, including professionals, organizations and athletes, will have private access and discreet, confidential emotional support designed to complement security, investigation and risk management services.  Louize works with individuals affected by security concerns, workplace strain, injury, public scrutiny or significant life events, helping them remain calm, clear and effective under pressure with consequences that often extend into family life and personal relationships.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to comprehensive risk management by addressing both external threats and the internal impact these situations can have on individuals and organizations.

  • Association of Threat Assessment Professionals Membership

We’re pleased to announce that STS Risk Management Group Principal, Jonathan Lacey, was admitted as a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).

Applicants are required to be sponsored by a member of good standing and to submit an application which ensures that the applicant meets the stringent requirements required by ATAP. Membership in ATAP is limited to individuals who, by the nature of their compensated employment: conduct threat assessments or violence risk assessments; design or participate in threat management plans; participate on threat assessment/management teams; conduct investigations of threat/violence risk cases; provide support services to victims of threat/violence risk cases; provide legal services or legal counsel related to the prosecution of instigators of threat/violence risk cases, or represent individuals/entities who are the victims of threats/violence risk cases; provide mental health or behavioral science expertise related to threat/violence risk cases; or conduct and publish scientific research involving threat assessments or violence risk assessments.

This membership demonstrates our continuing commitment to professional excellence at STS Risk Management Group, and provides us with seminars, training, and a national network of other trusted professionals involved in the area of threat and violence risk assessment.

  • New Name!

In September 2025, we changed our name from Security & Training Solutions to STS Risk Management Group. We kept the initials STS from our original name as an acknowledgement of our first six years. This change reflects some changes we made to our original offerings based on customer demand. Some of those changes included offering crisis management services which include advising organizations during or immediately after a security incident, such as a threat.

  • Private Investigation Services Now Available!

Effective October 2025, STS Risk Management Group is licensed by the New York State Department of State for Private Investigation, with Jonathan R. Lacey as the licensed principal/private investigator. The acquisition of this license was due to customer demand and allows us to provide more comprehensive services to organizations and attorneys, particularly in times of crisis. Clients should take comfort in knowing that being approved for a license involved the passing of an examination, a background investigation, and verification of experience, as well as good standing with Mr. Lacey’s former agency.
